Below is the full text of Sheikh Mohamed's statement:

"My gallant sons and my brothers of the UAE Armed Forces,

I salute you all and convey to you the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is very proud of your sacrifices for the UAE security, of your protection of its interest and of your support to our brothers and friends by ensuring security and by standing in the face of any threats by terrorist groups and by contributing to regional and global peace and stability.

The participation of our gallant armed forces as part of Saudi-led Operations, Decisive Storm and Restoring Hope, adds a new chapter to our nation’s glory, to the history of the UAE military, renowned for sacrifices and achievements and to the history of our country in support of the righteousness, a legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

This participation played a decisive role in defeating plots of sectarian and rebellious militias against the legitimate government in Yemen and in preserving Yemen’s Arabic identity, maintaining its role as a strategic depth for the GCC countries, not as a source of threat and dangers as the rebellious gang planned it to be. Their conspiracies back-fired right from the beginning when the Arab Coalition was formed to regain legitimacy and to liberate Yemen from such bandits. The coalition has sent a key message that Arabs still have the will and ability to work together to maintain their sovereignty and unity and will go up against any attempt to interfere in their internal affairs under any slogan or pretext.

As we welcome home the first batch of our heroes who participated in the operations to regain legitimacy in Yemen, and send a new batch to continue the task, we hold our heads high in pride of our armed forces’ achievements in Yemen. They carried out all tasks efficiently and exhibited bravery, dignity and professionalism. They also earned world’s respect for keenness to guarantee the safety of the civilians.

On this day, we pray to Allah the Almighty for our martyrs who granted us the strength and determination to win and to defeat the aggressors. Our hero martyrs did us proud. We also salute their families whose exemplary patience, fortitude and patriotism inspired this generation and the generations to come. I say to them with confidence: The bloodshed of your sons will not gb4e vain. The rebellious militias in Yemen have paid the price through our forces’ devastating air and land strikes. We will continue our endeavours to liberate Yemen and to rebuild it for our brothers the Yemeni people who aspire to freedom, development and stability and to turn the page on those who threaten its unity and identity.

Our gallant soldiers’ epics in Yemen have been playing a vital role in the victories made by the Arab Coalition and they make every Emirati proud of their armed forces who will do what it takes to defend the homeland and to drive the danger away from its borders. Our armed forces operate in professional manner under all conditions and in all environments and shoulder their national responsibilities with great courage and dedication.

Of great significance is the UAE Armed Forces’ contribution in liberating the Marib Dam which was re-built by the late Sheikh Zayed bin sultan Al Nahyan as a symbol of development, from the forces of evil and destruction. Our forces regained that landmark from the bandits of evil and deceitful sectarianism to show that the UAE, all the time, ensure that good prevails over evil and development over destruction.

To my sons and brothers who already began their tasks in Yemen in place of the returning forces, I am confident that you will continue the saga with the determination and dedication. It is a trait in the Emirati fighter every time and everywhere. This is the average Emirati who is raised to defend a brother and to help a needy person no matter what sacrifices they have to make.

While working with the other Arab Coalition forces to complete the task of cleaning Yemen from remnants of rebellious militias, remember that you are you are carrying with you the ethics and values of the UAE and your forefathers’ legacy. I am confident you will perform your national role with courage. After all, you are the proud graduates of the Zayed school, in which, we learned to adhere to our principles and to side with the righteousness.

We haven’t gone to Yemen in pursuit of selfish interests. We haven’t attacked any one and we never beat drums of war. The war was imposed on us after all peaceful solutions were exhausted and after Yemen fell to the grip of armed militias with destructive sectarian agenda, not only for Yemen, but for the whole region.  Our participation in the Arab Coalition came as part of a national mission, dictated by our national and humanitarian responsibilities, in response to a request by the legitimate government in Yemen and in implementation of the international legitimacy resolutions.

My sons and brothers, the gallant soldiers of the armed forces,

The excitement I see in the eyes of our heroes while performing their national duty and while hurrying to take part in the battle for righteousness in Yemen akes me more confident that soon we will be celebrating liberation of the whole of en. This also deepens my confidence in the present and future of our country which is endowed with brave soldiers who settle for nothing less than victory.

Our armed forces have proved their mettle in all operations they took part in, right from Kuwait'siberation, peacekeeping operations in different areas of the world, the active role in the international coalition against Daesh and the Arab Coalition in support of legitimacy in Yemen. Such activities are based on a strategic vision to provide full support to our armed forces and to upgrade their capabilities. Our armed forces will always remain a fort for the UAE, a shield for the Arab nation and a force of stability and peace for the region and the world at large.

On this occasion, I would like to extend my thanks to all civilian institutions and individuals for their efforts in easing the suffering of our brothers in Yemen through renovation of vital infrastructure there, including schools, airports, sea ports, power stations, as well as the humanitarian assistance by the Emirates Red Crescent which facilitated the return of displaced people to their homes and enabled them to resume their life.

The statement in full is below:

The Emirates of Peace

Peace be on the late Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Rashid and their brothers who vowed to the world that they will keep the flag of peace flying high.

Peace be on our heroes who returned home triumphant and on their brothers who stand sentinel and steadfast.

Peace be on their brothers who will joint the battlefield of honour, dignity where they defend and proponents of rights.

We are a nation of peace and we never hesitate to establish and promote the causes of peace, consolidate the foundations for preserving and perpetuating it.
We defend the values of justice, rightness and goodness, provide relief for whoever is in distress and go to the front line to help the oppressed wherever they are.

We have wielded arms only against oppression, injustice and tyranny and the forces of evil which had ill intentions against us, plan to damage our present, usurp our right to build our future that we want to be full of hope, work, well-being and growth.

The honourable performance of our Armed Forces in the battlefield and their effective contribution towards the victories of the Arab Coalition in Yemen are the best proof that our soldiers maintain high defense and combat readiness, which ensures that our country possesses a shield that protects its soil and a sword that guarantees its security and the safety of it people.

To our returning soldiers we say: You lived up to the expectations of your people, and your heroic acts, you proved to the whole world that the United Arab Emirates never hesitates to fulfill its duty towards its brothers, and that it never back away from our firm positions that we took for them because we strongly believe in the depth of our belonging to the Arab Nation and because we are fully committed to safeguarding the peace and stability of our region at all costs and sacrifices in which we take pride and by which we become more determined to stand out among nations.

Today, we encourage our brave sons who began their mission in the battlefield and plead them to continue to be united and brave, stand sentinel fearing no one but Allah as they defend rights.

We say to them: Be extremely brave in your fight against injustice and eliminate and uproot its causes. Defeat the transgressors and make the defeat as severe as you can. Spread the light of hope to conquer the darkness of evil and make hope replace despair.

Our hearts with you at all times. We pray for your safety until you return triumphant. We pray to Allah Almighty to protect you and enable your safe return.

Lions of the Peninsula

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, joined the nation in welcoming UAE soldiers returning from Yemen with a 25-verse poem, describing them as “lions of the Peninsula.”

“You are lions of the Peninsula. The protectors of the homeland and the den of the Arabs. You have given the enemy a glass of destruction and made them feel sorry,” Sheikh Mohammed said in the poem titled 'The Conquerors'.

“They have sacrificed their souls to their country in a glorious mission that was crowned with success. They have fought to support their brothers. They have made history and given lessons in sacrifice so the others will learn. They have written with their blood glorious words in our homeland’s notebook. The enemy has regretted their bad deeds.

“You have served your country with sacrifices oh our glorious soldiers who are not scared of death. You have offered your blood and souls for the sake of championing right and the nation. It is a battle of right and duty against evil and those who side with the Devil will lose because right always wins.

“We have given them (Yemeni coup rebels) advice but they did not care. These Houthi groups do not know the meaning of loyalty. They are criminals who believe that they could be heroes by killing children. We have now cut off their hands and they have suffered defeats and shocks.

“I tell our heroic soldiers.... You are the lions of the Arabian Peninsula, the protectors of the nation. Your country is celebrating the victory today and our deeds are speaking. The country’s leaders and people pledge to you to stick to the charters of honor, on top of whom is (His Highness President) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the gallant and noble leader, the protector of the homeland. Today our flags are flying high in the sky and the UAE is in a festival.”

As part of the tour, she visited three classrooms, including the Early Years and Primary Years pupils, as well as the School’s Early Years playground and Primary multi-function sports areas. In speaking with Omar Danial and Beat Sommer, as well as the staff and children, HRH Princess Haya was given a real insight into what is on offer at the Swiss International Scientific School.  After the tour, the staff of the Swiss International Scientific School presented Princess Haya a woven tree created by the students at the school.

Dr Raja Al Gurg, Vice-Chairperson and Executive Director of Dubai Healthcare City Authority, commented: "We are delighted that we now have a school, SISD, in Healthcare City offering a specialised curriculum with a strong scientific focus for secondary students, providing a springboard for those who wish to pursue academia in medicine or healthcare. SISD fills a gap in the UAE and indeed region for an education with a dedicated sciences stream, which will support our medical and healthcare professionals of the future."

Commenting on the visit, SISD Head of School, Beat Sommer, said: "We were delighted to welcome HRH Princess Haya to visit our brand new campus and offer our students the opportunity to meet such an inspiring individual who epitomises the global citizen we so actively seek to nurture within our students. HRH Princess Haya shares with us the ethos that enthusiastic and ambitious children can lay the foundation for a successful and happy life."

The 67,845sqm campus is also the Middle East’s first low-energy building in the education space, consuming one third of the energy of standard buildings across the region. Sustainability plays a key role in the school’s objectives, which was proudly awarded with the region’s first MINERGIE Certification. The MINERGIE label, which is awarded to low-energy buildings, is thought to significantly improve the comfort and productivity of occupants at viable costs as opposed to traditional construction techniques. The cost reduction will be translated into savings that will fund academic scholarships on offer to students.

Upon opening its doors for the 2015/2016 school year, the school recorded admissions of 270 pupils comprising of 41 nationalities with 57 teaching staff, with classes currently running from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6. In line with regulatory requirements, grades 7 to 12 will be added in the following years, when the school’s specialised curriculum will also boast a scientific programme. The scientific focus will offer a valuable springboard for secondary students should they choose to pursue academia in medicine or healthcare. The other option is the Swiss Baccalaureate programme, which offers a comprehensive general education, with students graduating with a diploma recognised both within Switzerland and internationally.
